Ford Marketing Practices
Ford is really confusing me.  They complained about the poor sales of the SHO, so they convert it into an "executive express" with a  V/8 and automatic transmission.   Sales really plummet, and Ford cuts production to
5,000 or fewer units.   And, future production is in doubt.

Only selling about 70,000 copies per year,  the Thunderbird was cut last year because sales are too low to continue production of the car.  Now, Car & Driver reports that the 2001 Thunderbird will be a 2-seater built on the mid-size Jaguar platform.  And, that Ford expects annual sales to be __________.  (I forgot the number, which I believe was either 5,000 or 15,000 units.)

Recently, Ford announced it will stop production of the Mark VIII this summer -- June, I believe.   This is because sales are too low.   What will replace the Mark?  Apparently nothing for now.

Ditto with some other models, and Ford will soon be out of the auto production business.

Is it only I that has problems understanding the logic of the above?

Since when does Ford figure they can make more money by selling less?

Not in my book.
