Date: | September 20, 1997 | Location: | Kenny Brown, Indianapolis, Indiana | Car: | Tim Wright's 1997 Taurus SHO | Modifications: | Air filter assembly removed | Results: | The spike and dip in the 4800 RPM range is caused by the computer locking up the torque converter in the AX4S transaxle. The lockup causes a minor driveline shock (similar to a shift, but much less violent) and the spike/damping pattern is the result. These curves were obtained in 3rd gear. | |
